It’s magic.

Tearing paper to make art was not a conscious decision. Recently I had the gift of time (code for woefully underemployed) to create my own work. Following my heart and allowing what made me happy served as my guides. 

I strive for my soul to shine though in my art. The joy found in the colors, the edges where everything meets, the connectivity of all things, the shapes formed when things are whittled down to their essence - those are the things that interest me when creating torn paper art. This body of work is created by tearing tissue paper, wrapping paper, old sewing patterns and all other sorts of paper ephemera. I also use original illustrations I’ve created over a career that spans decades. I’m a freelance illustrator/artist and have been creating art and signs for nature preserves for a very long time.

Never would I have imagined taking this turn, making this choice, nor the freedom to tear tissue paper to make art.

When viewing her art, she hopes it sparks a feeling that brings you joy and an appreciation for all the abundant beauty we see in life.
