In 1864, astronomer admiral w. H. Smyth produced observations in a publication on star colours entitled sidereal chromatics. The book attempted to explain their nature, the effect of the earth's atmosphere, and the possibility of change in colour due to doppler shift. His summary on observing star colours of many double stars has been reimagined by our designers to create this vibrant fine art print.
