Artist Statement:

I have never believed that the breaking of mirrors brings bad luck.  If I did my whole life would have been unlucky!  I do believe mirrors can create interesting portals when placed in an outdoor setting.  The reflected landscape they contain seems to beckon the viewer to walk into another dimension of nature, their internal nature—to reflect on the beauty of the surroundings and of themselves as they become part of the essence of the design.  Art made with mirrors incorporates the observer into the work itself in an inescapable and personal sense causing each onlooker to experience a different piece.
        As a neurodivergent artist with a disability, I find taking discarded objects and using them to create new compositions profoundly healing.  My work seeks to remind us of the joy of being alive and being in nature.  The materials I use in my art are all found things.  Through the use of acrylic paints, digital techniques, and sealers they are transformed into unified displays on a theme corresponding to a famous quote about our relationship to the world as a garden.  
        Being a Gardener, myself, I understand is not just about the plants. It is also about the metaphorical planting of seeds; seeds of compassion, hope, and resilience. Sometimes they fall on fertile ground, sometimes on hard dry soil, but the seeds of human kindness are never wasted.
