Artist Statement: From an early age, Chris was compelled to create—an impulse that led her to explore a diverse array of mediums, from drawing and painting to woodworking and stained glass. Her artistic journey has centered primarily on painting, where she has worked extensively in oils while also producing expressive pieces in pastels and acrylic, and likes to incorporate luminous metal leaf into her pieces.

A pivotal plein air workshop in Tucson, Arizona, ignited Chris’s enduring passion for painting outdoors—an immersive practice that unites her reverence for the natural world with her artistic expression. While her work is rooted in landscape, often with a focus on water, it resists confinement to strict representation. Instead, Chris pushes the boundaries of subject and medium, resulting in a compelling synthesis of realism and abstraction, blurring the line between observation and imagination.
