Artist Statement: Rachel Mosher creates artwork inspired by the natural world, focusing on seascapes, landscapes, flora and fauna—including both wild and companion animals. Since returning to painting in 2020, she has worked with acrylic and oil paints on canvas and board, using brushes to capture her subjects in a realistic style. She enjoys the challenge of portraying a wide range of textures, bringing each scene and subject to life.

Through her work, Rachel seeks to inspire a deeper connection with and appreciation for nature and its inhabitants—something she believes is increasingly missing in today’s world. Among her favorite subjects are companion animal portraits, which celebrate the profound bond between animals and their human caregivers. Her goal is for viewers to feel the unique personality and presence of each animal, just as powerfully as they would in a human portrait.
